NEW POLL: REGIONS WHERE DP RUTO IS TAKING THE LEAD

A new poll has shown the respective numbers of the top presidential candidates, Raila Odinga of the Azimio la Umoja and Kenya Kwanza Alliance’s William Ruto, in Kenya’s nine regions.

The survey conducted by Infotrak established that the ODM leader is commanding a lead in six of the nine regions.

In a report released on Wednesday, July 13, Raila is leading in Nairobi, Nyanza, Western, Lower Eastern, Northern Kenya and Coast regions.

On the other hand, the second in command’s presidential bid has huge backing in South Rift, North Rift and Mt Kenya regions.

Popularity by percentages
In Nairobi, the former premier is leading with 42% against Ruto’s 30%.

With a huge gap, Raila is commanding a lead in Nyanza, which is his home turf, with 73% against the DP’s 11%.

The opposition leader has 46% backing in the Western region, while the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) leader trails with only 25%.

The research also established that Raila is supported by 54% of the Lower Easter electorate compared to Ruto’s 25%.

In Nother Kenya, the ODM chief enjoys 52% support. The DP follows with 30%.

And finally, the Coastal region is dominated by Raila’s supporters, standing at 49% against Ruto’s 27%.

Ruto’s strongholds
On the other hand, Infotrak established that Ruto has a significant lead in Mt Kenya. His presidential bid is supported by 54% of the area electorate compared to Raila’s 30%.

The Kenya Kwanza leader is enjoying a 54% lead in the South Rift region, while Raila trails at 30%.

In the North Rift region, Ruto is ahead with 58%, while the Opposition supremo is at 24%.
