CHAOS AS AMBASSADOR STORMS OUT OF UHURU’S MEETING

Somalia Ambassador to Kenya Mohamed Ahmed Nur Tarsan on Tuesday, June 14 abruptly walked out of a meeting convened by President Uhuru Kenyatta. 

The ambassador to Kenya stormed out after President Kenyatta invited Somaliland officials to the meeting. 

In a statement issued by Somaliland on Tuesday evening, they condemned Ambassador Tarsan for walking out saying that it showed the hatred of Somalia towards Somaliland.

“The Government of the Republic of Somaliland is disappointed about the actions taken by the Ambassador of Somalia, who today abruptly walked out of a diplomatic lunch reception. the reception was held by the President of the Republic of Kenya H.E President Uhuru Kenyatta and was intended for the diplomatic community in Nairobi.

“The ambassador of Somalia left due to his views on the participation of the Republic of Somaliland at the event.  Having said that, this clearly demonstrates the hatred, and long-term enmity of Somalia towards the Republic of Somaliland and its people,” part of the statement read by the Ministry of foreign affairs of Somaliland. 

Somaliland stated that they aspire to live in peace and tranquility with their neighbours including Somalia. 

Nairobileo.co.ke reached out to State House spokesperson Kanze Dena for a comment but by the time of publishing the story, she had not responded. 

Somalia has refused to recognize Somaliland as an independent state. Somaliland broke away from Somalia in 1991 after that country descended into chaos and civil.
