ALFRED MUTUA EXPOSES RAILA ODINGA BADLY

Machakos governor, Alfred Mutua, has recounted how former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga, tricked him to a photo opportunity after threatening to bolt from the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition party.

Speaking during an interview on Spice FM on Wednesday, June 8, the Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader disclosed that he was invited for a meeting to discuss the contentious Azimio agreement with the former Premier after having a lengthy discussion with President Uhuru Kenyatta over the same.

He stated that upon arrival, he was told to take a photo with Raila and other leaders, disclosing that the former Premier immediately left the meeting afterward with the photos used as a photo-op to show that all was well in the coalition.

“I was meeting with my party aspirants and Uhuru called to ask me if I had talked with Raila. He told me to meet the ODM boss after my meeting promising that everything had been sorted. During the meeting, I got numerous calls from Raila. I rushed to the meeting thinking that I will be briefed.

“When I arrived, they put us together to take a photo with other leaders as Raila and Martha Karua were there. As I was still being briefed, Raila got into his car and left,” he stated.

The governor expressed that he was disappointed over the matter revealing that he was promised a sit down with the Raila’s campaign secretariat spokesperson, Makau Mutua, to discuss issues in the agreement.

However, he stated that his demands were not met and that is why he decided to join the Kenya Kwanza faction.

Nonetheless, he stated that he still has a soft spot for Raila and his family despite bolting out of Azimio. He accused insiders of taking Raila hostage claiming that the former Premier was a shadow of his former self.

“I am very fond of Raila and Mama Ida Odinga. He is a nice guy but he is a shadow of who he used to be. At one time I was asked to help ‘fix’ Raila because he is a project.

“Raila used to have these dinners where he collected a lot of money but he was promised funding because he is a project. I was once in a function in Murang’a where he was frustrated because the money that was coming in was trickling in slowly. That is why he could not go on the ground for close to two weeks.”

Mutua further divulged that his move to Kenya Kwanza was influenced by discussions he had with the DP during a two-hour drive around the city. The outgoing governor revealed that he was promised 20 per cent of Ruto’s government with three Cabinet positions reserved for him.

“Ruto felt that I was being frustrated and I met him at a shopping mall and I picked him. We sat in my car and we drove around the city. I asked him what happened between him and Uhuru and he told me.

“We got 20 per cent of the government, 30 per cent was taken by Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula, UDA got 30 per cent and the other 10 per cent will go to the remaining 20 parties. There is no hidden card. There are no surprises,” he added.

Additionally, he stated that he will get the majority or minority position in the Senate in the event the Kenya Kwanza brigade loses the August 9 polls.
