MUSALIA MUDAVADI AND MOSES WETANGULA TO JOIN WILLIAM RUTO

Deputy President William Ruto pursued his hunt for the Western votes as he courted OKA principals; Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula to decamp to UDA.

In the company of his United Democratic Alliance Party allies, Ruto urged the ANC Party leader to defect to his camp so as to mount a strong challenge that would beat his rival ODM leader Raila Odinga.

In what seemed to be Ruto’s tactical strategy in courting Mudavadi, the DP attended a football tournament organized by Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala who is reportedly allied to the ANC leader.

The tournament was held on Friday in Mumias in what was seen as a gathering meant to counter the Bukhungu II convention that was held in Kakamega.

He noted that his partnership with the former Deputy Prime Minister and Wetangula would guarantee them victory in next year’s presidential race.

“Mngependa Musalia Mudavadi afanye kazi na Hustler ama mtu ya kitendawili? Mngependa Amwami Moses Wetangula afanye kazi na Husler ama afanye kazi na mtu ya Kitendawili?” He posed to residents who responded with hustler slogans.

DP Ruto vowed to continue engaging Mudavadi and Wetangula to explore ways of working together ahead of next year’s general elections.

Similarly. the second in command defended his unannounced visit in the region alleging that Mudavadi as a Luhya had approved his presence in the event.

Niko na ruhusa ya mdosi wako anaitwa Musalia Mudavadi. Singekuja hapa bila ruhusa ya Musalia Mudavadi sababu ninamheshimu,’ Ruto told Malala questioning his sudden visit.

The leaders told the duo that the community risks ending up being in opposition in 2022 if they don’t combine forces with UDA leaders.

Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale underscored the need for the two Western leaders to join forces with the DP so as to floor Odinga noting that divided communities did not stand a chance in clinching the top seat.

“We want to make it clear that no community can ascend the presidency alone without the support of other communities. Let’s support Dr. Ruto for the top seat in 2022 because he is the right person to address problems facing us,” said Khalwale.

The DP at the same time lashed at the former premier and his Azimio team accusing them of imposing leadership on Kenyans instead of letting voters decide on their own.

“Who told them that we do not have the brains to decide for ourselves? Because they have money, they think they have the authority to impose leadership on Kenyans. No way,” said Dr. Ruto.

He went on: “Did you send anyone to represent you in hotel meetings where they are interviewing candidates they will endorse?”
