GOOD NEWS TO UNEMPLOYED KENYANS.

The Kenya Roads Board (KRB) has announced internship opportunities for fresh University graduates through a statement released on Tuesday, October 26.

The three-year internship opportunities have been set aside for fresh graduates especially those who pursued Engineering courses under the Graduate Engineers Internship Programme (GEIP). The opportunity is meant to equip trainee engineers with professional skills, by following guidelines specific to one’s field of engineering practice as well as on non-technical areas.

The internship opportunities are meant to enable graduates pursue their professional careers with precision and confidence, making them more competitive and able to effectively play their roles in national development.

“The objective of the training programme is to enable graduate engineers to acquire professional competence in their areas of training in a structured manner and be registered with the Board as professional engineers,” the release read in part.

Upon completion, competitive interns will be absorbed into some government agencies landing various job positions.
“The Board, in supporting the programme is partnering with the three road agencies: Kenya National Highway Authority (KeNHA), Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA), and Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) for placement of the graduates in various projects,” the release further stated.

So far those who have benefited from the internship opportunities offered by Roads Board have landed different roles in different government agencies.

The first cohort of 15 graduate engineers was enrolled in April 2020 while the second cohort of 22 enrolled in January 2021 and all are working in different capacities in various roads agencies and in the wildlife sector
