MEDICAL COURSES YOU CAN DO WITH A D+ AND D PLAIN GRADE

Many people find the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education’s typical grade of D to be unappealing. Several fields are hard to enter with such a grade.

The medical field is one of them. There is, however, a means for resilient grade D students who need to realise their desire to work in the medical field.

Certain courses need a D+ and below. The majority of these courses are certificate programmes, in which a candidate can get a diploma, then a higher diploma, and finally a degree.

Here are a few Grade D courses to think about:

Health Records and Information Technology Certificate (in-service).

Individuals who work in a recognised health records department but lack the necessary professional qualifications can benefit from the Certificate in Health Records and Information Technology in a service programme. The KCSE aggregate grade D+ is the minimum entrance requirement.

In addition, you must have at least two years of experience working in a recognised Health Records and Information Department, a letter of recommendation from the department’s Health Records and Information Officer, and a letter of appointment to your current job. This course will take two years to complete.

For the Deaf, a Certificate in Health Promotion is available (CHPD).

This course is only for students who are deaf. A mean grade of D+ is the minimum entry requirement. You must also have a D+ in English or Kenyan Sign Language, and a D as well in Biology. The programme is offered at all KMTC campuses around the country for a two-year study period.

Community Health Foundations.

Kenya Medical Training College offers a D- programme called Foundations in Community Health. It entails educating personnel on the fundamentals of community health. Anyone interested in working in the community can do it. The course, which is a six-month short course, is ideal for form four leavers.

Nutrition and Dietetics Certificate.

If you scored a D on your KCSE, you can also enrol in the Certificate in Nutrition and Dietetics programme. The course is meant to prepare you for a career as a dietician or nutritionist. A KSCE mean grade of D+ is the minimum admission requirement for this course.

In addition, you must have a D+ in English or Kiswahili, and a D+ in Biology or Biological Sciences. The programme is offered at a few KMTC campuses and lasts for two years.
