Detectives drawn from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations have nabbed a notorious woman suspected of spiking drinks of revelers in Kiambu County and its environs.

According to DCI, Irene Njoki Irungu who operates by the name ‘Michelle’ is known for spiking revelers’ drinks with a drug that sends them to sleep for about 12 hours, before robbing them off their money and valuables.

After robbing her victims bank accounts, Njoki has numerous SIM Cards where she deposits the money. Once the money has been successfully transferred, she withdraws it without raising any suspicion.

Njoki is also suspected of running a syndicate of notorious criminals who prey on unsuspecting revelers at drinking joints within Ruaka and its environs in Kiambu county.

Detectives based at Kiambaa received reports from male tenants who were robbed of all their household belonging after they entertained a woman whose description fits that of the suspect.

Dozens of SIM cards, mobile phones and wrist watches suspected to have been stolen from her ‘mchele’ victims were recovered from Njoki’s house upon her arrest.

Detectives also arrested Peter Irungu Wambugu who they suspect to be Njoki’s accomplice in the trade.

The suspects are currently cooling their heels at Karuri Police station, as they wait to be presented before court on Monday, May 31.
