DP RUTO SUMMONED

Deputy President William Ruto has been summoned by Jubilee Party officials who accused him of indiscipline and violation of the party constitution.

DP Ruto, was found at fault for supporting United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidates in ward elections scheduled in Nakuru County; London Ward and Hells Gate Ward.

“Jubilee was born in Nakuru and it is so sad that he came to Nakuru to undermine the same party that put him where he is.

“So I have given him 7 days from January 21upto January 28. We want him to come back with a clear message, otherwise, failure to do so, we will recommend serious action to be taken against him and Nakuru senator Susan Kihika in regards to those violations,” Jubilee Party Nakuru Branch Secretary General Peter Cheruiyot said while confirming authorship of the showcase and summon missive.

“Failure to comply with the demands outlined in this letter, we will recommend disciplinary action be initiated against you at your own peril,” the letter warned.

The letter was copied to President Uhuru Kenyatta, Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju, Chairman Nelson Dzuya and Vice Chair David Murathe.

The DP was informed that failure to honour the summon or failure to respond to the show cause letter would lead to the branch recommending immediate disciplinary action to the national organs.

The day in question was January 17 when the DP visited Ngata area in the company of Senator Kihika.

Ruto endorsed Jonathan Warothe as the flag bearer for the Hellsgate Ward and Anthony Wachira Nzuki for the London Ward.

“On the above-stated date, you both hosted and endorsed two persons who are in the UDA political party to vie for the MCA seat in London Ward and Hell’s Gate Ward.

“This fact is supported by photographs taken on the same date and circulated widely, with intention of undermining the Jubilee Party’s position and its identified nominees for the upcoming March 4 by-election,” the letter accused.

Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju stated that the party disciplinary committee was monitoring activities of Jubilee members who were engaging with other parties.

“Such matters are up to the disciplinary committee to look at whether there is any flouting of the Political Parties Act and the party’s constitution and take the necessary action where they deem necessary,” he said earlier in the month.

However, the DP’s allies claimed that they were within the party’s policies since they were supporting an affiliate of the Jubilee Party.

UDA was previously referred to as the Party of Development and Reforms (PDR), which was a member of the Jubilee Coalition, with the highest office holder in Parliament being the Senate Deputy Majority Leader (Fatuma Dullo).

In an interesting twist, Tuju stated that PDR was formerly the Party of Action (POA) which he founded.

“If you are confused, I am more confused because PDR was POA,” the Jubilee Secretary General stated during a recent press conference.
