Deputy Party Leader Governor Wycliffe Oparanya led NEB Chairperson Catherin Mumma and ODM Director of Elections Junet Mohamed in a ceremony held at Chungwa House to issue the nomination certificates.

Oparanya issued certificates to David Were who will contest the Matungu Parliamentary seat that was declared vacant following the untimely demise of Justus Murunga.

Andrew Sure clinched the party’s ticket to contest the vacant Huruma Ward MCA seat, whereas Stephen Ochieng was given the greenlight to carry the party flag in London Ward.

ODM stated that the candidates were ready for the elections, assuring that they would deliver their respective seats for the party.

The Party nominations were contested by a number of individuals prior to the determination of the eventual victors.

The party had informed that there had been three interested candidates for the Matungu Parliamentary seat; Were, Paul Posho and Jeremiah Namunyu, however, only Were submitted his nomination form back to the party.

ODM is expected to face off with other popular parties in the region in Amani National Congress (ANC) and FORD Kenya, which have already fielded candidates for the race.

ANC fielded Peter Oscar Nabulindo to contest the by-elections in a bid to retain the Matungu seat.
