Ruto to choose woman as deputy president 2022

Ruto has started 2022 campaigns in earnest. He has affirmed this during recent interviews that his name must be on the ballot.

In a recent trip to Mombasa, Ruto expressed regret that the country was yet to implement the third gender rule ten years after the promulgation of Kenyan Constitution (2010). He said the time is nigh for women to get nominated into key government positions. It’s through this that issues affecting the youth and women will be addressed conclusively, he said.

“It is high time women were given equal opportunity in politics and development of the nation. The two-thirds gender rule should be given priority in any discussion involving the Constitution. That is why I am ready to have a woman as my deputy,” said Ruto.

Ruto was speaking this as he issued sanitary pads in Mombasa donated by United Nations Population Fund. “I am a father of four girls and they deserve as much a chance as boys. It is our sisters, mothers, daughters and wives who will benefit from the two-thirds gender rule.” Ruto added.
