Kalonzo Speaks on Azimio Holding Demonstrations

Wiper Party Leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, made a significant declaration on a Sunday, asserting his active opposition to Azimio leader Raila Odinga’s leadership in anti-government demonstrations.

During a church service in Kajiado County, Kalonzo emphasized that the responsibility of curbing government overreach does not exclusively rest with the opposition. He pointed out that it is incumbent upon all Kenyans to take a stand for themselves.

Kalonzo’s stance was a response to appeals from the clergy who urged the prominent opposition figure to scrutinize the government’s actions, particularly concerning perceived excesses like the arbitrary imposition of new taxes.

This statement from Kalonzo highlights a broader perspective on civic duty and calls for collective action in holding the government accountable for its actions.

”You have asked Raila not to relax and keep quiet, it’s not just Raila and Kalonzo that should be advocating for the rights”

Earlier in the week, during his visit to the Mavoko demolitions site, Raila Odinga condemned the government’s move to demolish property threatening to act if the government does not stop.

”You can’t wait for just Kalonzo and Raila and Kalonzo to go back to demonstrations, I can’t allow Raila to go back to demonstrations, let the country do it,” he stated

Kalonzo further claimed that during the anti-government protests earlier in the year, there were deliberate efforts to assassinate Raila.

He further stated that it is the same demonstrations that led to the ongoing ceasefire talks. The Wiper Party leader asked the government side to be sincere in the dialogue.

The Azimio Co principal further castigated the government over the Mavoko demolitions adding that the government should have considered the livelihoods of the affected families.

”We will advocate for our rights in a way that does not depict us as lesser citizens but as equal under the law,” Kalonzo further stated.

Speaking at the same event NARC Party Leader Martha Karua defended the demonstrations, saying that she is ready to take back to the streets when called upon.
