Date for King Charles III’s Kenyan Tour Revealed.

King Charles III, the reigning monarch of the United Kingdom, is scheduled to embark on a historic visit to Kenya from Tuesday, October 31st to Friday, November 3rd, 2023.

This visit is a pivotal part of the Crown’s ongoing commitment to fortifying connections with Commonwealth nations on a global scale.

This will be King Charles’ fifth visit to Kenya, and it holds special significance as it is his inaugural visit since his coronation as the King of England. His last presence in Kenya dates back to 1987, with earlier visits occurring in 1977 and 1978.

Notably, King Charles has a unique connection to Kenya, as he was a mere three years old when his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, ascended to the throne in 1952 while residing at the iconic Treetops Hotel within Aberdare National Park. This upcoming visit carries deep historical and diplomatic importance for both nations.

“The visit is at the invitation of President William Ruto and comes as Kenya prepares to celebrate 60 years of independence. The King and Queen will visit Nairobi City County, Mombasa County and surrounding areas,” the statement read in part.

“Their Majesties’ programme will reflect the ways in which Kenya and the United Kingdom are working together, notably to boost mutual prosperity, tackle climate change, promote youth opportunity and employment, advance sustainable development and create a more stable and secure region.”

During the visit, the King will meet President Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto as well as other members of the government.

King Charles will also attend an event to celebrate the life and work of the late Professor Wangari Maathai.
