Raila Odinga’s Recent Statement Leaves Karua and Kalonzo Suprised

The prospect of Raila Odinga stepping away from politics and paving the way for a new opposition leader in the upcoming general elections appears increasingly uncertain.

The former prime minister has defied mounting pressure to retire from politics and endorse a successor. Odinga emphatically stated that he has no intentions of exiting the political stage just yet, firmly asserting, “The time for my departure has not arrived; I remain an active presence in politics.” This declaration comes as Odinga, the key figure in the Azimio alliance, confronts expectations of passing the torch to a new generation of leaders.

His enduring presence in the political arena reflects his determination to continue shaping the country’s political landscape, raising questions about who will eventually assume the mantle of opposition leadership as the nation approaches its next electoral cycle.

Odinga’s decision to stay in the fray ensures that his influence and strategic role in Kenyan politics will endure for the foreseeable future.

Given the fact that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader has announced that he is not ready to quit politics, high chances are that he will be on the ballot again in 2027.

The message sounds bad to Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka and his Narc Kenya counterpart Martha Karua who were eyeing the position as opposition leader.

Presence of Odinga also means the chances of the two vie for the Presidential seat on Azimio ticket reduces.
