Vocal MP Shot Dead Body Dumped Near His Car

Body of the then Kilome MP Anthony ” Tony” Wambua Ndilinge was found dumped outside his car- a Mitsubishi Pajero- at Githurai 44 termini. He had been shot twice.

One bullet had exited at the back of his head and the other was still lodged in his head.

A wallet at his back pocket contained Ksh. 20,000 in cash as well as two cheques issued by the Parliamentary Service Commission.

Though his death remains clouded in mystery, a parliamentary by-election in Taveta is said to have occasioned his assassination.

Though he was a KANU MP, the outspoken legislator is believed to have secretly backed and campaigned for a rival candidate who was vying on an opposition outfit, DP.

John Jackson Mwalulu, a fellow Kamba, eventually won the seat by a razor thin margin as he defeated KANU’s Raymond Mnene, a former Catholic priest.

Prior to the by-election, the ruling party led by the then President Daniel Arap Moi, had done everything possible to woe the voters. But it was not enough to tilt the scales in favour of Mnene.

Though the assassination of the former legislator is now regarded as a closed case, his death remains unresolved.
