Azimio Makes Major Change on Wednesday’s Protest

Azimio La Umoja, the opposition coalition in Kenya, has made significant changes to its planned anti-government demonstrations following stern warnings from President Ruto and Interior CS Kithure Kindiki.

In response to public demand, Azimio announced on Friday, July 14, that it will now extend its anti-Ruto protests to a three-day event starting from July 19.

The coalition released a statement urging its supporters to actively participate in the protests, highlighting the grievances of Kenyans regarding the escalating cost of living. In an effort to accommodate the public’s requests for increased activism, Azimio has revised its protest schedule to include Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of the following week.

These changes come after President Ruto and Interior CS Kithure Kindiki issued stern warnings against the planned demonstrations. The opposition coalition, undeterred by these warnings, seems determined to persist in its efforts to address the concerns of the Kenyan people.

The decision to extend the protests demonstrates Azimio’s commitment to amplifying the voices of the public and their dissatisfaction with the current state of affairs. It is a clear indication of the growing discontent among Kenyans regarding the high cost of living, and the coalition’s willingness to mobilize its supporters to demand change.

As the situation continues to unfold, further developments regarding the protests are expected to emerge. The actions and responses of both the opposition coalition and the government will play a crucial role in shaping the future of Kenya’s political landscape.
