Safaricom Introduces New Calls Services.

The telecommunication firm rolled out a new overdraft service that allows customers an additional KSh 10 per call.

The company said the service, dubbed Okoa Chap Chap, gives customers with limited airtime an option to choose via an IVR prompt at the beginning of a call.

The telco noted that once a customer accepts the complete call, the system sends a notification of the cost based on duration.

The amount charged includes a 10% service fee, common to other Okoa services.

Safaricom charges an advance fee of 10% on Okoa services, meaning a customer receives the requested Credit Advance less 10%.

The service can be accessed by dialling USSD code *126# and following the prompts.

This followed Safaricom Lipa na Data, a new payment feature allowing customers topay for goods and services using mobile data bundles.

The telecommunication firm introduced the feature under the USSD code *544*34#, giving customers an option to check their eligibility, bundles to redeem and value.

A customer with 15.4GB of mobile data can redeem to get KSh 1,000 for shopping or any other bill.
