3 LEADERS WHO REFUSED TO ATTEND RUTO’S URGENT MEETING

COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli have today spilled the beans on a secret meeting convened by President William Ruto at KICC during the labour day celebrations on 1st, May 2023.

Speaking in an interview at a local Media House today, Atwoli revealed that it was during the labour day celebrations at Uhuru Gardens where he asked President William Ruto to clarify the issues of 3% tax deduction on government workers to support the housing program.

He revealed that the president accepted to have a meeting with union of workers leaders to clarify the issues at a Labor Day luncheon at KICC, Nairobi the same day.

Atwoli claimed that after they had eaten, the President arrived as he had promised and engaged the members on the 3% deduction.

He claimed that many of the public service employee leaders present at the meeting were left surprised after the president explained that the 3% was not actually a tax as many of them to thought, but a saving wich will be paid back with interest to anyone willing to withdraw him/herself.

The union of workers leader also claimed that President William Ruto gave room for all the leaders present at the meeting to ask questions on what they did not understand about the deduction. Atwoli said that all the leaders present unanimously agreed to support the deduction after the president’s clarification and thus he does not expect any rebellion from some of the members.

Now, Atwoli also claimed that three top leaders literally refused to attend the meeting yet they knew that matters concerning the workers they represent was to be discussed.

He mentioned The Kenya Universities Staff Union ( KUSU) Secretary General Dr Charles Mukhwaya, The University Academic Staff Union (UASU) leader Dr. Constantine Wasonga and Nyatike MP Tom Mboya Odeke as the three leaders who did to attend the meeting.

“Hao viongozi watatu hawakuattend that meeting na walijua vizuri this issue is very touchy (Those three leaders did not attend the meeting yet they know that this issue was very touchy),” Atwoli said (from 6 to 7 minutes of the video).
