MILLIONS OWNER OF CHINA SQUARE IS MAKING IN A DAY

China Square, a popular Chinese grocery chain, has become extremely popular in Nairobi since its opening in the UniCity mall developed by Kenyatta University.

Once word spread that the business sold its wares at a lower price than its competitors, hoards of Kenyans began flocking there to do their shopping.

Lei Cheng, better known as Charlie, owner of China Square, told Nation that he came to Kenya for the first time in September 2022.

He went grocery shopping and was shocked to see that the prices of many products he knew were imported from China were much higher in Kenya.

The 37-year-old saw an opportunity in his home country of Kenya and returned there to persuade suppliers to open a store.

Cheng claims that ess has been booming since he opened shop on January 29. He made KSh 20 million in sales in the first two weeks.

According to Cheng, even on a terrible day, the company makes KSh 10 million from product sales.
