CHILLING DETAIL ABOUT WHO EXACTLY WERE TO DIE ALONGSIDE SAITOTI

As the country marks ten years since the devastating plane crush that took away the lives of former Minister of Interior, then known as Internal Defense, George Saitoti and his deputy Orwa Ojode, disturbing details are now emerging.

Saitoti’s deputy Orwa Ojode, who was also the Ndhiwa member of parliament, may have very well succumbed due to a mix up which he innocently got entangled in and ended up boarding the plane. It can now be confirmed that his name and that of his team were never on the passengers manifest.

During an ntv investigative piece by the station’s presenter Brian Obuya, it was revealed by current National Assembly Majority Leader Amos Kimunya himself that he was actually the one supposed to be flying alongside the late George Saitoti.

Kimunya, who was then the Minister for Trade, explained to the reporter that originally he was scheduled to fly with Saitoti in order to attend an event at Ojode’s home place of Ndhiwa.

However, Ojode decided to travel with Saitoti and that meant Kimunya had to give up his spot on the plane to him.

Worth noting is that at the time, Kimunya, just like Saitoti, had been mentioned as one of the possible candidates from Mt. Kenya who might have vied in the presidential election that was scheduled for the following year.

Internal Security Minister Prof George Saitoti and his assistant minister Joshua Orwa Ojodeh were among six people who died in a police helicopter crash a decade ago in Ngong area on the outskirts of Nairobi.

The crush has been shrouded in mystery ever since, with claims of foul play made.
Saitoti and  Orwa Ojode were aboard the helicopter make -Eurocopter AS 350 which crashed shortly after 9am in Kibiku area in Ngong. The two leaders, their bodyguards and the two pilots perished in the accident.

The helicopter was said to have exploded on impact.
The pilots were identified as Captain Nancy Gituanja and Captain Luke Oyugi. Saitoti and Ojode bodyguards, inspector Joshua Tonkei and  sergeant Thomas Murimi also died in the accident.

The then Vice-president Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka had memorable informed the nation of the tragedy.

“Tragedy has struck the country and I bring the the condelences of President Kibaki to the families and all Kenyans. It is a dark day as we pray for the souls of the selfless colleagues who have died,” Kalonzo said.
