HASSAN JOHO CRIES BECAUSE OF RAILA ODINGA

Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho has hailed the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga saying it has led to many developments in the country.

Governor Joho, while speaking in Mombasa during the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) event where the President was also in attendance, said that if Odinga was in the country, he would have graced the event to witness the progress of health as a product of the Handshake.

Joho explained that Odinga and President Kenyatta working together had borne many projects in the country and as part of the Azimio team they would continue rallying behind them to oversee Kenya

“I am really grateful to you the President and my party leader Raila Odinga. I am truly grateful because of the Handshake, maisha imebadilika hapa,” Joho said.

“I am sure if Raila Odinga was here, he would have been here today; but am glad to say, leo sisi ni watu wa Uhuru na Raila; sisi ni watu wa Azimio.”

Raila is currently on a week-long tour attending an African Union summit in Ethiopia.

Joho consequently underscored the progress the government had made in boosting health asserting that it was a milestone for many families in the country.

While referring to his own ailing father who was treated and discharged at the Coast General Hospital, Joho called on Kenyans to appreciate the State’s efforts in improving healthcare in the country.

“Three days ago my father was here. He had heart surgery, was looked after and recovered. I advised my brothers who wanted to take my father to South Africa where we would have spent millions to bring him here,” he said.

At the same time, Joho took a swipe at political rivals who have been constantly throwing jabs at Uhuru’s legacy.

He said that the Raila-led Azimio would not tire of working for Kenyans and telling them what the government has done.

“This is the legacy. Whoever wants to see it, let them see, yule hataki kuona shauri yake. Sababu wewe you’re giving a blind eye, kusudi kuangalia political mileage. We will not allow you to do that, we will tell Kenyans the truth,” Joho stated.

He added: “But those that come here to be treated and looked after are the people who matter to us.”
