William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance had a reason to celebrate after its candidate in the Kiagu Ward by-election emerged as the winner UDA’s candidate Simon Kiambi garnered 2,440 votes while Moses Kuria CCK’s aspirant came a close second with 1,823 votes In Mahoo Ward, Taita Taveta, Jubilee Party’s Donald Saleri floored UDA’s Daniel Kimiyu

Deputy President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance’s candidate in the Kiagu ward mini poll has clinched the seat after a hotly contested by-election which took place on Thursday, December 16.

The ward by-elections pitted UDA’s Simon Kiambi against various contestants among them Chama Cha Kazi’s Mwenda Milton. According to the official results from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, the UDA contender won the seat after scooping 2,440 votes which represent 35% of the votes cast. Gatundu South Moses Kuria’s CCK’s candidate Mwenda came a close second after garnering 1,823 votes while Jubilee’s Samson Kinyua came third with 1,609 votes. “The People of Kiagu and Mahoo wards in Meru and Taita Taveta counties have given the economic agenda of the Hustler Nation a big thumbs up.
