NMS BOSS GEN BADI PROMOTED AGAIN

Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) Director General, Lt. Mohamed Badi, added another title to his many fetes after he was crowned an elder by the Eastleigh Business Community. 

Gen. Badi was the guest of honour at a partnership forum organised by the Eastleigh District Business Association (EDBA) on Thursday, August 12.

Eastleigh business leaders donned a cream white garment on the NMS boss as well as the popular caps worn by Muslim faithful known as a Taqiyah.

Gen. Badi was also given a walking stick that is also popular among Muslim men that is called an ‘Asa.

According to Kamukunji Member of Parliament, Yusuf Hassan, the EDBA also informed the NMS boss of the issues affecting Eastleigh, which is an economic hub in Nairobi.

“The EDBA led by its chairman Haji Ahmed Yare presented a 6-point petition to the DG on the perennial water shortages, garbage, poor roads and sewage, chronic traffic congestion and the damaged streets lights,” the MP stated.

“The DG expressed his readiness to address many of the issues raised,” he added. 

On July 23, President Uhuru Kenyatta made a raft of promotions and appointments in the Ministry of Defence and Badi landed a promotion.

In a statement seen by Kenyans.co.ke, the President promoted Major Gen. Badi to the rank of Lieutenant General. Badi also remains Director General NMS.

Badi also took an oath witnessed by President Kenyatta which is a requirement for all persons who attend Cabinet Meetings or participate in the conduct of Cabinet Business. 

From September 2020, Badi began attending all Cabinet meetings and its Committees, under Executive Order No. 3 of 2020.

The President tasked the DG with overseeing functions transferred to the national government by the former Governor Mike Sonko in March 2020.
