Terrifying Moment When Volcano Lava Hit The City Of Goma In DRC Congo

For the first time since 2002, Mount Nyiragongo has erupted. The lava is so fierce that people are being evacuated from surrounding areas. Last night, the lava reached city of Goma engulfing houses.

The city and its surroundings has a population of estimated 2M people. All these people have now been rendered homeless as they are running away from the homes en masse. NGOs are also evacuating and helping people move far to safety.

The volcanic eruption might have far reaching effects to neighbouring countries than earlier for seen. It is now reported that majority of Goma residents are now heading towards North Rwanda. It is not clear if they will try to settle in Rwanda as refugees or they will settle at the border.
