MAN KILLS NEPHEW FOR INSURANCE MONEY.

A suspect accused of forging a man’s burial permit was on Monday arraigned in a Nairobi court.

Solomon Kithuka Chalo appeared before Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi at Milimani law courts, where he was charged with forgery and fraud-related charges.

He is accused of forging the burial permit of a man identified as Mutisya Musyoka, who is still alive. The accused alleged that Mutisya was his nephew.

The court heard that on November 30th, 2020, at Jubilee House along Wabera street in Nairobi, Kithuka tricked Jubilee Life Insurance to pay a sum Sh230,000 to him by falsely pretending that Mutisya Musyoka, holder of Family Shield cover NoIL202001880986 had died.

“On October 8th, 2020 at unknown place within republic of Kenya with others not before the court, the accused with the intent to defraud forged certain documents namely Jubilee Insurance certificate of the attending Physician under the names of Mutisya Musyoka purporting it to be a genuine document signed by Dr. R Kariuki of Kathiani Mission Hospital in Machakos County,” the charge sheet read.

Mutisya told police that he has no blood relations with the accused and that he was only introduced to him by his younger brother.

He also said he has never taken any insurance cover for himself or informed by anyone that he has cover of any category.

Kithuka denied the charges and was released on a cash bail of Sh300,000.
