POPULAR GOSPEL MUSICIAN TO VIE FOR PRESIDENCY IN 2022

Reuben Kigame, a gospel singer, has announced that he will run for President in 2022, taking on Deputy President William Ruto, Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho, and Dr Mukhisa Kituyi, who are among the politicians who have expressed interest.

Kigame is forming a mobilization team of individuals who will join his social media groups to exchange ideas and reinforce his agenda.

The ‘ Enda Nasi, ‘ singer said he was referring to a call from his close friends to run for president as an independent candidate in 2022. ” Kenya is in a bad position, and if we do not courageously confront the rot we are currently experiencing, we will be held responsible, and future generations will not forgive us for failing them.

” Difficult times necessitate difficult choices, and mine is one of them. In a post shared in one of the social media groups, Kigame said, ” I will be announcing my offer soon. ” The pastor, a blind person with a disability, declared that his platform will be focused on the slogans ” Reset Kenya” and ” Make Kenya Great Again. “

Kigame, 55, was born in Bunyore, Vihiga County, on March 13, 1966. He graduated from Kenyatta University with a bachelor’ s degree in education and Moi University with a master’ s degree in journalism and media studies. He went blind when he was three years old.

In his first foray into politics, he finished fourth out of six candidates in the Vihiga Gubernatorial election in 2013. The father of three is a PhD student in theology and a teacher.

Kigame has been a strong advocate for Kenyan musicians’ rights, accusing the Music Copyright Society of Kenya of mistreating artists and siphoning off their royalties.

He’ s also been a vocal critic of President Uhuru Kenyatta’ s handling of the Covid- 19 crisis and the Building Bridges Initiative. When Kenyans were dying of Covid- 19, sleeping hungry, losing jobs, and the economy and health sectors were crippled, Kigame bemoaned Uhuru’ s promotion of the BBI agenda.
