GOVERNMENT ISSUES NEW RULES TO SCHOOLS AND CHURCHES.

The commissioner said that learning institutions, churches, landlords, and security firms that are operating closed-circuit television cameras to the list of those required to offer special security measures as data handlers.

Other people included on that list are political campaigners, gaming/betting firms, banks, CRBs, Technology firms and transport service providers.

The institutions mentioned above will be required to adhere to the provisions of the data protection act in handling, storing and sharing the data they collect.

The commission has set a fee of 1,000 and 20,000sh annual renewal fees for data commissioners and data controllers.
