VIDEO: TEACHERS FLEE SCHOOLS CLOSED.

Teachers have fled from the war-torn Kapedo area in Baringo county following an escalated operation by the government to pursue armed bandits in the area.

Five schools among them Kapedo Primary School have also been closed as a result of the banditry attacks that have led to the death of four police officers.

According to Nation, the operation has claimed the life of one teacher and another one identified as Esther Njeri, left with an arrow wound after the bandits invaded her home.

Njeri said many of her colleagues have already fled the area following the heightened tension after their head was killed.

The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) vice-chairman Ronald Tanui implored the government to provide risk allowance, insurance cover related to banditry to area teachers.

The Rift-Valley Regional Commissioner George Natembeya said they will liaise with the Ministry of Education to employ local teachers so that learning can continue in the area. He urged area politicians not to be controlled by the bandits to incite the public.

Five bodies found

Six bodies of unknown people were been found in Arabal location in Baringo South, following a banditry attack in the area on Tuesday, January 19.

It was believed the deceased who had gunshot wounds were picked from Chemolingot, Tiaty sub-county and transferred to Mukutani ward before they were murdered. The bodies belonged to executive people who were dressed with neckties and decent shirts.

William Kamket arrested Tiaty Member of Parliament William Kamket was arrested shortly before being released over banditry attacks in Kapedo.

The MP was being sought after over his incitement remarks on the location of Kapedo.
