PROTEST ERUPTS AT EGERTON UNIVERSITY.

Protest has erupted at Egerton University as lecturers pushes for reinstated Vice Chancellor Rose Mwonya’s sacking.

The University lectures are pushing for Vice chancellor’s sacking.

They blocked the Vice chancellor’s office as they declared her a persona non grata.

A court in Nakuru had on Monday, November 30, suspended a decision by the institution of higher learning to send Mwonya on leave and replace her with Prof Isaac Kibwage who had signed a return to work formula with the dons.

The university had on November 20 sent Prof Mwonya on terminal leave two months before the expiry of her term due on January 12, 2021 but the embattled VC rushed to court and challenged the decision.

“Pending the hearing of this application, the court is pleased to issue interim orders suspending the decision dated November 13, that purports to send ex parte applicant on leave with direction to hand over her role as vice chancellor to Prof Isaac Kibwage, in its entirety,” Justice Hellen Wasilwa declared.
