HOW BIDEN WILL DEFEAT TRUMP

Nothing could have made President Trump happier like when Bernie Sanders conceded defeat to Vice President Joe Biden on April 8 2020. Unlike during the 2016 elections when majority of polls were favoring Hilary Clinton, running against Biden seemed like a home run.

Bernie Sanders just like Trump has a cult following in America. People who want Bernie and nothing but Bernie. Would he have clinched the primaries, the group who have gotten more vocal in campaigning for Bernie and probably have brought victory home. Bernie Sanders conceding defeat would say, “I wish I could give you better news, but I think you know the truth. We are now some 300 delegates behind Vice President Biden, and the path toward victory is virtually impossible. I have concluded that this battle for the Democratic nomination will not be successful.” As millions of his supporters cried across America, Trump cheered from the Oval office.

To sow discord in the Democratic Party, Trump tweeted, “Bernie Sanders is OUT! Thank you to Elizabeth Warren. If not for her, Bernie would have won almost every state on Super Tuesday! This ended just like the Democrats & the DNC wanted, same as the Crooked Hillary fiasco. The Bernie people should come to the Republican Party, TRADE!” Trump was being clever, he wanted supporters of the three main candidates – Bernie, Biden and Warren – to clash. The same strategy he had used four years earlier between supporters of Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton.

What happened between April and now? Challyh News looks at how Trump has messed one of the easiest elections in history and has given Joe Biden the advantage.

  • Bernie Sanders hearty endorsement for Biden.

Unlike in the last general elections, Bernie Sanders did not appear bitter. It could either be because he thought he had been beaten fair and square or his dislike for Trump presidency pushed him. On April 14, 2020 Bernie Sanders would endorse Joe Biden saying, “We need you in the White House. I will do all that I can to see that that happens, Joe.” It is evident how much Biden needed that endorsement. In an emotional statement, Joe Biden would thank Bernie Sanders, “I think that your endorsement means a great deal, it means a great deal to me. I think people are going to be surprised that we are apart on some issues but we’re awfully close on a whole bunch of others. I’m going to need you — not just to win the campaign, but to govern.”

The endorsement had raised the chances of Joe Biden becoming the 46th commander in chief of the US. He had a long way to go but with Bernie’s supporters having his back, the trail had become clearer. Bernie Sanders had joined a long list of politicians who had endorsed Joe Biden.

  • The Obama factor

Obama in a moving speech that reminded Americans of the DNC Convention 2004 speech would endorse Joe Biden on April 14, 2020. In his endorsement speech, Obama would tacitly throw jibes at Trump and his administration without mentioning his name even once. That meant in his daily Twitter melt downs, Trump would not know how to respond to Obama without admitting his government had failed. Never had the incompetency of Trump been summarized so well like when President Obama said, “Joe has the character and the experience to guide us through one of our darkest times and heal us through a long recovery. And I know he’ll surround himself with good people – experts, scientists, military officials who actually know how to run the government and care about doing a good job running the government, and know how to work with our allies, and who will always put the American people’s interests above their own.”

In a few sentences, Obama had outlined how Trump had failed to handle climate change threat, how he was a ‘stable’ genius surrounded by people who adored him instead of experts, how he was pulling out of international treaties and most importantly, how head failed to handle the corona virus pandemic.

Obama is a popular figure in the Democratic Party and his endorsement was timely to Joe Biden Campaign. Obama also brought Bernie Sander’s to the fold by saying,  “Bernie’s an American original – a man who has devoted his life to giving voice to working people’s hopes, dreams, and frustrations. He and I haven’t always agreed on everything, but we’ve always shared a conviction that we have to make America a fairer, more just, more equitable society.”

  • Handling of the Corona Virus Pandemic

If Joe Biden wins in November, the largest factor contributing to his win will be because of Trump’s handling or lack thereof of the COVID-19 pandemic. It has been shown that despite Trump getting early warning about the virus, he did nothing but be ignorant. When the media started asking about  the country’s preparation, Trump said the virus was not a threat just a Democrat hoax. When America registered the first cases, Trump assured the nation that the number would go to zero soon.

Nothing was working according to his plan. The virus did not go away as expected and hundreds of Americans were dying. What did Trump do? Shift the blame again. This time to WHO and China. He would temporarily freeze funds for WHO.

What Trump forgot is that the American voters are watching. In November when they go to the ballot, a voter who lost a loved one – grandparent, parent, sibling, child or a friend – will ask self some pertinent questions. Did they have to die? Could he have prevented it? Next time will it be me who will die when a crisis strikes? With tears trickling s/he will tick Biden for president.

It is evident because of the above factors that Biden now has a fighting chance. An election that was for Trump to lose now can swing either side. If Biden plays his cards well and Trump continues to mess, Trump will add another stripe to his career. On top of the impeached silver medal he will add a gold medal inscribed ‘one term president’.
