The governor made the declaration during a development tour of Thika Constituency, where he inspected ongoing infrastructure projects and commissioned new public facilities.

His visit covered the construction of Makongeni Level Three Hospital, drainage works in Salama and Kisii estates in Kamenu Ward, and the commissioning of solar-powered streetlights in Umoja area, Hospital Ward.

Wamatangi reiterated that he intends to fulfil the commitments he made to Kiambu residents during the 2022 election campaigns before turning his attention to re-election politics.

Hospital construction among projects inspected

One of the key stops during the governor's tour was the construction site of Makongeni Level Three Hospital.

The project is part of the county's efforts to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and improve residents' access to medical services.

Wamatangi also inspected drainage works in Salama and Kisii estates, where the ongoing interventions are expected to improve stormwater management.

Effective drainage infrastructure is particularly important in residential neighbourhoods because it helps control flooding, protect properties and improve sanitation.

The inspection provided an opportunity for the governor to assess the progress of projects intended to address some of the everyday challenges facing residents.

Umoja receives solar-powered streetlights

The governor also commissioned solar-powered streetlights in Umoja area, Hospital Ward.

The installation is expected to improve visibility at night, enhance security and support businesses operating beyond normal working hours.

Solar-powered lighting is among the infrastructure interventions Kiambu County has been pursuing through its Angaza Kiambu initiative.

Wamatangi puts development ahead of re-election campaigns

Beyond the project inspections, Wamatangi used the tour to reaffirm his position on the approaching election season.

He maintained that his priority was to honour the promises he made in 2022 before engaging residents in campaigns seeking another mandate.

His position places emphasis on service delivery and the need for elected leaders to demonstrate what they have accomplished during their time in office.

The declaration also comes as political discussions surrounding the 2027 gubernatorial contest continue to take shape in Kiambu County.

Wamatangi has previously maintained that he would rather concentrate on completing development projects than participate in premature political confrontations.

For residents, the ultimate measure of his administration will be the progress made in healthcare, infrastructure, drainage and other essential services.

As the next election approaches, the governor's development record is likely to become an important part of the debate over whether he deserves another term.

His latest message is therefore clear: he wants his work in office to speak before he asks voters to renew his mandate.
