The controversy began on November 4, 2026, when a graphic published by Kenyans.co.ke quoted Sifuna expressing deep satisfaction with the performance of the Democratic Party in the United States. Sifuna claimed it felt good to see "good people" who genuinely care about ordinary citizens winning elections after bad people had triumphed for far too long.
He explicitly cheered what he described as a "blue wave" sweeping across the American electoral landscape.
However, the celebratory mood was short-lived as Dr. Miguna Miguna took to social media to deliver a blistering counterattack. Miguna mocked the Nairobi Senator's shifting allegiances, characterizing his commentary as desperate "contortionist acrobatics" designed to please various global political factions without anchoring himself to any solid principles.
Miguna pointed out that just a week prior, Sifuna had allegedly claimed solidarity with the red socialist Workers’ Party wave in Brazil and the carmine-colored Students’ List wave in Serbia. Miguna slammed the quick mutation to supporting democratic socialists in the US, labeling Sifuna an empty project of right-wing oligarchs in Kenya.
The vocal lawyer went ahead to draw a direct line between the Senator and President William Ruto, claiming there is no material difference between Sifuna and the current administration. According to Miguna, politicians who lack a distinct ideology, vision, or policy platform cannot achieve a genuine triumph for ordinary citizens.
He concluded his viral tweet with a stern reminder that telling the truth is a revolutionary act, accompanying his post with the hashtags #SocialismIsTheSolution and #RevolutionNow.
