Siaya Senator Oburu Oginga has reassured Kenyans about his political future, expressing confidence that he will soon return to the public arena after his recent health challenges.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader made the remarks while receiving a delegation of senior politicians at his Nairobi residence on Wednesday, November 4.
The visit came shortly after his discharge from hospital, following a period that had kept him away from some of his usual political engagements.
Oburu used the occasion to reflect on the false reports announcing his death that circulated online while he was receiving medical attention.
According to the senator, the claims did not weaken his resolve. Instead, he said they gave him additional motivation to fight his illness and continue recovering.
He expressed gratitude for being alive and thanked God for seeing him through the difficult period.
The veteran politician also made it clear that his temporary absence from political activities had not diminished his interest in parliamentary affairs.
He told his visitors that he missed participating in debates and interacting with fellow legislators in the political arena.
National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula and Senate Speaker Amason Kingi were among the leaders who visited Oburu.
The delegation included lawmakers from both Houses of Parliament, who gathered to check on his progress and wish him well.
Wetang’ula welcomed the senator’s improvement but encouraged him to give himself enough time to recover before returning to demanding political engagements.
Kingi also conveyed the Senate’s appreciation for Oburu’s contribution to parliamentary discussions and national politics.
The visit offered the recovering politician an opportunity to reconnect with colleagues as he continued recuperating at home.
Despite his recent difficulties, Oburu remained optimistic about his future and urged supporters to remain patient as he worked towards regaining his strength.
His message was one of determination, with the veteran politician indicating that his political journey was far from over.
The senator’s remarks are likely to reassure supporters who have been concerned about his health and absence from public engagements.
