The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has invited Kenyan business owners to apply for an opportunity to become authorised tax service partners under its Ushuru Mashinani programme, in a move aimed at bringing essential tax services closer to communities.
In a notice issued on Thursday, November 5, 2026, the authority called on entrepreneurs to join the initiative and help residents access selected KRA services within their neighbourhoods.
KRA said participating businesses would serve as local access points where taxpayers can receive assistance, while also expanding the businesses’ role and reach in their respective communities.
“Your business could be the next tax service point in your community! Do you run a business and want to grow with KRA? We’re inviting business owners to join the Ushuru Mashinani Partners Programme and help bring tax services closer to the people,” KRA stated, encouraging business owners interested in growing alongside the authority to submit their applications.
The authority directed prospective partners to apply through its official Ushuru Mashinani portal, where it has provided an online application form for consideration.
The initiative is designed to expand taxpayer support through authorised information and communications technology (ICT)-enabled partners, improve convenience and increase access to tax education and assistance across the country.
“As a partner, you’ll help your neighbours access KRA services right where they are, while expanding your business’s role and reach in the community,” KRA stated.
Under the programme, approved partners are expected to help taxpayers access selected tax-related services without necessarily travelling to KRA offices.
The initiative is intended to make routine tax processes easier for individuals and small businesses, particularly those located far from established tax service centres.
Services associated with the programme include assistance with KRA PIN registration and retrieval, filing of nil returns, Tax Compliance Certificate applications, eTIMS guidance and applications relating to outstanding tax penalties and interest.
The partners are expected to provide digital assistance to members of the public using their ICT facilities, helping taxpayers navigate the authority’s online systems.
KRA’s official application portal describes the partners as authorised service providers who will help extend taxpayer support and education to more Kenyans.
KRA’s latest notice targets business owners interested in expanding their services while helping the authority reach more taxpayers.
The programme provides an opportunity for businesses with suitable digital facilities to take part in the delivery of basic tax assistance at the grassroots level.
Prospective partners are required to submit their details through the application form on KRA’s website for consideration.
The authority has provided an online portal where applicants can access the application process and view businesses already admitted into the programme.
Ushuru Mashinani forms part of KRA’s wider efforts to improve taxpayer service delivery, increase voluntary compliance and make it easier for Kenyans to meet their tax obligations.
The authority launched the initiative on March 26, 2026, as a grassroots approach to expanding access to basic tax services by working with businesses that have computers and reliable internet connectivity.
The programme was designed to complement existing KRA offices and Huduma Centres by creating additional points where taxpayers can receive assistance.
It also seeks to address challenges faced by individuals and small businesses who may have limited knowledge of online tax platforms or find it difficult to access physical KRA offices.
By working with local businesses, the authority hopes to make tax services more accessible while encouraging greater participation in the country’s tax system.
The partnership model also provides KRA with an additional channel for taxpayer education, particularly among people operating in the informal and micro-enterprise sectors.
For business owners, the latest invitation presents an opportunity to become part of the authority’s service delivery network while increasing their visibility and relevance within their communities.
