n 19 October 1905, Koitalel arap Samoei, the Orkoiyot and spiritual leader of the Nandi, was assassinated by the British during a meeting supposedly convened to negotiate peace.For years, the Nandi had resisted British attempts to seize their land and impose colonial rule. Koitalel stood at the centre of that resistance.
