Kasarani Member of Parliament Ronald Karauri was heckled off the stage at an Orange Democratic Movement rally in Jacaranda, Embakasi East, Nairobi, on Saturday, October 31, after publicly announcing his intention to contest the Nairobi county gubernatorial seat in 2027.

Karauri, who is also the co-founder and CEO of SportPesa, addressed a large crowd of supporters dressed in party caps beneath ODM party banners and truss scaffolding at the event.

In his address to the rally, Karauri acknowledged Raila's role in shaping his political career and expressed confidence that he would retain the backing of Nairobi residents heading into the next general election.
The disruption did not end with Karauri's reception. Suspected goons later stormed the venue and interrupted proceedings entirely, compelling several party leaders in attendance to flee for their safety.

Kalonzo Musyoka challenges his supporters after heckling incident, calls for 112,000 polling agents
The incident reflects the unsettled state within ODM following the death of the former prime minister in October 2025, which left the party navigating significant internal divisions.
ODM has since announced it will not field a presidential candidate of its own in 2027, opting instead to back President William Ruto's re-election bid through the broad-based arrangement currently in place between the two political formations.
Karauri referenced this arrangement during his speech, stating that cooperation between the party and Ruto's administration would continue in Nairobi. His declaration of interest in the governorship, however, signals an early and contested scramble for ODM's support within the county ahead of the next polls.
Meanwhile, Kisii governor and ODM deputy party leader Simba Arati held a meeting with youths from all 17 ODM branches in Nairobi.

ODM confirmed the meeting, describing it as part of the party’s grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The party's move signalled a deliberate effort to deepen its organisational structures in Nairobi, a politically significant county that has historically been a battleground for competing political formations.

Allute Lissu Mughwai, a High Court advocate and elder brother of detained CHADEMA opposition leader Tundu Lissu, died in the early hours of Sunday, November 1, 2026, while receiving treatment at Selian Regional Hospital in Arusha.

According to his family, he passed away at approximately 2am.
His sister, Rose Masesa, said that Mughwai had been unwell for an extended period but had shown signs of recovery in recent days, leading the family to believe he would soon be well enough to travel to Dar es Salaam. His condition worsened without warning, forcing relatives to rush him to hospital, where he subsequently died.

The funeral will be held at the family home in Arusha, with burial arrangements yet to be confirmed at the time of reporting.
The loss is particularly painful for the family given the circumstances surrounding Tundu Lissu, who has remained in custody since his arrest on April 9, 2025, in Mbinga town following a public rally.

He was charged with treason, a non-bailable capital offense that carries a potential death penalty, as well as multiple counts of publishing false information under Tanzania's Cyber Crimes Act.
Authorities accused him of inciting the public to reject and disrupt elections as part of CHADEMA's "No Reforms, No Election" campaign, which demanded changes to Tanzania's electoral commission ahead of the general elections.

Boni Khalwale Insists Ruto Will Lose Election Despite Fixing Bayern Munich-Ajax Match

Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale has declared that President William Ruto's plan to stage a high-profile football match between Bayern Munich and Ajax will not rescue his political standing, likening the move to a similar spectacle staged by the late former DRC president Mobutu Sese Seko.

Khalwale made the remarks on Saturday, October 30, during a large opposition rally held at Ukunda Show Ground in Kwale county.

Speaking to the crowd with evident passion, Khalwale warned the president that the longstanding land question along the Coast remained unresolved and would carry a direct electoral consequence.
The senator also accused Ruto of using his public office to benefit his personal business interests, alleging that the president's son operates matatu routes in direct competition with ordinary citizens, and that his egg-farming ventures crowd out small-scale farmers.
Ruto announced a Bayern Munich versus Ajax fixture scheduled for January 5, 2027, as the inaugural match at the newly built 60,000-seat Raila Odinga International Stadium in Talanta City. The announcement drew immediate criticism from opposition figures and sections of the public.

Khalwale invoked the memory of Mobutu Sese Seko, who hosted the 1974 "Rumble in the Jungle" boxing bout between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman in Kinshasa, as a parallel for what he described as a political distraction strategy.
He then turned the analogy directly on Ruto: "Even if you were to bring Bayern Munich and Ajax to play, after that game between Ajax and Bayern Munich, where will he go?" The crowd responded: "Home."
Khalwale also reminded the president of his own contribution to Ruto's political network, stating that he was the person who first introduced Ruto to the Luhya community and its political base.
Elsewhere, Alex Mwakideu responded to a campaign urging Bayern Munich and Ajax to cancel their planned Nairobi match.

The Raila Odinga International Stadium was named in honour of the late opposition leader and ODM founder.
Mwakideu argued that cancelling it would undermine a tribute to Raila's love of German football and a major opportunity to promote Nairobi.

Kipchumba Murkomen Joins Broad-based Leaders in Persuading Kalonzo Musyoka to Back Ruto
Nancy Odindo is a Current Affairs Editor at TUKO.co.ke, covering political and world news. Odindo has over six years of journalism experience and joined TUKO.co.ke in 2023.
Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has publicly called on Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka to abandon the opposition coalition and align himself with President William Ruto's camp, describing the current trajectory as politically dangerous for the former vice president.

Murkomen made the remarks on Saturday, October 31, at an event in Ngiito, Ilmotiok Ward, Narok county, held to empower women's groups in the area. Speaking before a crowd of supporters, he framed his appeal as friendly advice rather than political pressure.

The CS said the recent Linda Mwananchi rally in Nairobi was merely a preview of what lay ahead, suggesting that the momentum behind that movement was far greater than Kalonzo had appreciated.
Murkomen drew on his personal history with the former ODM secretary-general Edwin Sifuna, stating that he knew him from his university days when the Nairobi senator served in his youth wing. On that basis, he predicted that Sifuna would eventually distance himself from Kalonzo.

Wiper blasts Sifuna after Kalonzo was heckled in Linda Mwananchi event: "There must Be respect"
He further warned that the path being charted alongside Sifuna, Trans Nzoia governor George Natembeya, and former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua was one rooted in bitterness, hatred, and violence, and cautioned that such allies would blackmail and embarrass Kalonzo over time.
Murkomen's appeal followed an awkward moment for Kalonzo at the launch of Sifuna's Linda Mwananchi movement in Nairobi on Friday, October 30, where sections of the crowd booed the Wiper leader after he cautioned against rushing to declare Sifuna a presidential candidate, saying opposition talks were still ongoing.

Several leaders within the broad-based arrangement led by Ruto have been making similar overtures to Kalonzo in recent weeks, urging him to cross over and support Ruto's re-election ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Kalonzo had rejected the advances, maintaining his presidential ambitions and hitting back at the government over allegations of corruption, extrajudicial killings, and abductions, vowing to restore what he described as the country's lost dignity.

Mixed reactions as Kalonzo ends speech after being heckled at Sifuna's event
The remarks come at a time of significant political realignment, with opposition parties engaged in active negotiations to rally behind a single presidential candidate to challenge Ruto in 2027.
Previously, TUKO.co.ke highlighted Kalonzo's response to Ruto after the president called him a formidable rival and his appeal for a united opposition ahead of the 2027 election.
Kalonzo cast his decades in politics as a period of patience and preparation, comparing the experience to the Israelites’ 40 years in the wilderness.
He also challenged supporters to turn Ruto’s praise into a reason to back his presidential ambitions.
