The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has released the examination schedule for Tuesday, November 3, as the 2026 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations enter their third week.

In an update shared on its social media platforms on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, the council wished candidates well as they prepare to sit Mathematics and English papers scheduled for the day.

According to the timetable, the morning session will begin at 8:00 am, with candidates sitting Mathematics Alternative A Paper 1 or Mathematics Alternative B Paper 1.

Mathematics Alternative A (121/1) and Mathematics Alternative B (122/1) will each run for two hours and 30 minutes, ending at 10.30 am.

Candidates using the large-print versions of the papers will follow the same schedule, while those sitting the Braille version of Mathematics Alternative A will have until 11:00 am.

A three-hour break is scheduled between the morning and afternoon sessions, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.

The paper is scheduled to run for two hours and 30 minutes, ending at 4.30 pm.

Candidates using the large-print version will follow the same duration, while those sitting the Braille paper and the examination format for hearing-impaired candidates will have until 5pm.

The timetable provides for the following Tuesday examinations:

KNEC Chief Executive Officer David Njengere recently issued fresh instructions to examination centre managers and field officers as the examinations entered the third week.

Among the directives, examination containers are required to be opened at 7:00 am, while mobile phones within examination centres must be switched off and secured in lockable lockers outside examination rooms during examination sessions.

Centre managers have also been directed to maintain approved lists of authorised personnel, with everyone accessing the centres required to present their original national identity cards.

The council has further prohibited candidates from wearing wristwatches inside examination rooms, directing schools to provide wall clocks to help candidates monitor examination time.

The 2026 KCSE examinations began with oral and practical assessments in October before the written papers got underway. The official timetable provides for the examination period to run through Friday, November 20.

A total of 1,048,355 candidates are sitting this year’s KCSE examinations across the country, according to figures announced by the Ministry of Education.

KNEC has wished all candidates well as they continue with the examinations and urged them to follow the official timetable and instructions issued by examination officials.

A Sunday night political interview on Citizen TV spiralled into one of the more memorable on-air confrontations Kenya has seen in recent times, pitting veteran journalist Jeff Koinange against Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) deputy leader Cleophas Malala.

Jeff Koinange and Cleophas Malala clashed

The two went head-to-head on Sunday Live on November 1, with the discussion initially centred on generational change in Kenyan politics and Malala's backing of Edwin Sifuna and his run for the Kakamega governorship, nine months before the General Election.

Things took a sharp turn when Malala began defending his record of switching political parties, framing the moves as personal growth rather than opportunism.

The exchange grew increasingly personal from there.

Malala turned on Jeff, accusing him of resisting change and likening him to COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli, calling him the "Atwoli of the media."

Jeff was not about to let that slide. He fired back by labelling Malala a serial party hopper and "Little Ruto," and went further by suggesting that Senator Methu had overtaken Malala in terms of influence within the DCP, a remark that clearly stung.

The following day, on November 2, Koinange took to social media to share photos from the interview. His caption was matter-of-fact:

He did not refer to the clash that had set social media alight overnight.

  • Gachagua Says He Will Flee to US If Ruto Wins 2027 Election

Gachagua Says He Will Flee to US If Ruto Wins 2027 Election

Speaking during a wide-ranging interview with a vernacular television station on Sunday, the DCP founder and leader confirmed he has a home in America. He said he would move there if divisions within the Mt Kenya region contributed to the opposition’s defeat in the presidential contest.

Nonetheless, Gachagua expressed confidence that the Opposition can beat Ruto.

“I am convinced that the Opposition will win if it does not allow itself to be divided,” he said.

“If our people allow themselves to be divided, I will just board a plane and go to the US. I have a home there,” he said.

Gachagua quipped that he would not wait until after the election to flee Kenya, particularly if Mt Kenya had been misled by its own leaders.

“If I see that our people have been misled and divided through their own leaders, because I will be woke, I will not be here in Kenya,” he added.

The former DP argued that he had done his best to unite the region, and therefore, he would not be answerable to anyone if he relocated to the U.S. with his family.

“I have tried to unite the region, so no one will ask me any question. No one will ask me the reason for fleeing. I will just go to America with my people because I have a home there,” he said.

Gachagua at the same time recounted the warm reception he received from Kenyans in the US during his two-month tour in the country.

According to Gachagua, he was treated like royalty, as Kenyans in the diaspora provided accommodation in private homes instead of hotels, food, transport, and personal items for him and his wife, Dorcas Gachagua.

“I want to thank our people in the US. I was accorded an unforgettable affection. They treated me like their king…like a young child. They came for me at the airport with flowers and they sang for me,” he said.

Gachagua described how his hosts brought food, did his laundry, and ironed his clothes, while others took him shopping.

“I was not staying in a hotel. Those with big houses were instructed by the community to relocate. We were given the space with Mama Gachagua to live until it was enough for us,” he said.

“They would take me to shops and ask me to pick what I want and don’t spend even a cent,” he said.

The DCP described the tour as a wholesome experience that was both socially and spiritually fulfilling.

“I have never been accorded such affection in my life,” he said.

Gachagua estimated that the U.S. tour cost about Ksh150 million, and he never spent a coin out of his pocket thanks to contributions and logistical support from Kenyans living in the US.

“My two-month trip cost Sh150 million, and I did not spend even a shilling. That money came from our people,” he said.

Gachagua also used the tour for self-reflection, spending part of his time in prayer and solitude.

“I had a moment of self-reflection in thoughts, prayers, and fasting, reflecting about our people and our country, as our people are not in a good situation,” he said.

Gachagua said the reflections strengthened his resolve to reach out to other Kenyan communities and build political alliances before the 2027 general election. He said he put the strategy into action as soon as he returned to Kenya, beginning with meetings at his home in Wamunyoro, Nyeri County.

“From that love, I decided to do all I can to defend our people at all cost,” he said.
