According to the weekly forecast, all 47 counties are expected to receive rainfall in different areas, including Nairobi, Bungoma, Kakamega, Busia, Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, Kisumu, Nakuru, Kiambu, Mombasa, Garissa, Mandera and Turkana's neighbouring regions.
The warning comes barely a day after the meteorological authority released its November-December outlook, predicting above-average rainfall across much of Kenya.
Acting Director of the Kenya Meteorological Service Authority Edward Muriuki said the expected rainfall could bring significant benefits to farmers and communities but warned that excessive precipitation could trigger flooding and damage infrastructure.
Muriuki also cautioned that increased rainfall could heighten the risk of malaria, cholera, typhoid and other waterborne diseases, particularly in areas experiencing poor drainage and contaminated water sources.
The country experienced below-average to near-average rainfall in several regions during October, although some locations recorded substantial amounts. Ng'iya Primary School weather station in Siaya County registered the highest monthly rainfall total at 264.4mm.
The November rains are expected to improve soil moisture, replenish water reservoirs and increase pasture availability for livestock, offering relief to farmers following months of relatively dry conditions.
However, the department warned that prolonged rainfall could affect agricultural activities, delay harvesting and disrupt the transportation of farm produce.
Rural roads could become impassable, while urban centres risk traffic congestion and transport interruptions where drainage systems fail to cope with heavy downpours.
Residents living near rivers and in low-lying areas have also been cautioned about possible flooding as water levels rise.
The meteorological authority has urged Kenyans to monitor regular weather updates and take precautionary measures, noting that shorter-term forecasts will provide more detailed information on changing conditions.
