George Ruto's well-known Mood Matatu is getting a fresh look, with new photos showing the vehicle mid-transformation inside what appears to be an industrial paint garage.

The images, shared by his crew Raptor Fam, offer a behind-the-scenes glimpse at the makeover currently underway on the matatu associated with the first son.
The front section of the vehicle is now covered in a lilac or lavender paint, applied across the bumper, slatted grille, fenders and sculpted body kit surrounding the headlights.

The coat appears to be a base or primer layer rather than the final livery, suggesting the full design is yet to be revealed.
Workers have used newspaper and tape to protect the roof, windscreen area and portions of the side panelling from overspray, with the headlights also masked off.
A side mirror is wrapped in plastic and tape, and through the covering, a yellow melting-smiley print with X-shaped eyes on a dark purple background is visible, offering a tease of the aesthetic direction the new theme may take.
On the left side of the matatu, the previous artwork remains partially visible beneath the masking.
The old design features dark airbrush or graffiti-style graphics in teal and green tones, with a face incorporated into the composition.
The fact that the existing livery is still showing suggests it is being painted over rather than stripped away entirely.
The windscreen wipers remain attached over the newspaper-covered glass, confirming this is still very much a work in progress.

George Ruto, the eldest son of President William Ruto, has drawn considerable attention in recent years, partly through his association with the matatu culture that runs deep in Kenyan street life.
The Mood matatu has previously been a talking point among fans of Nairobi's vibrant public transport scene, known for its bold custom designs and loud personalities.
What the finished product will look like remains to be seen, but the purple direction is already turning heads.

.ke also highlighted facts about George’s 98 Sacco, including its official fares on Route 125 from Nairobi to Rongai and Kiserian.
The sacco has grown from a single matatu into a prominent fleet known for customised vehicles and a strong following among young commuters.
Its expansion has also prompted debate about competition and regulatory oversight in Nairobi’s public transport sector.
