Nyamita questioned the decision by leaders who backed Gachagua’s ouster to now associate with him politically, arguing that their actions raise concerns about their commitment to consistent political principles.

Speaking during a televised interview with a local media station on Thursday, November 5, 2026, the legislator challenged the opposition’s stance on the rule of law, highlighting what he termed a contradiction in Gachagua’s relationship with some of his current political allies.

“The same individuals who participated in Gachagua’s impeachment understand that he is unsuitable for public office, yet they are now leading political groups to support someone they previously helped remove from power,” Nyamita remarked.

His comments come amid growing tensions within the United Opposition, following Gachagua’s warning to some leaders against treating him as though he were their child. He called on politicians seeking to unite ahead of the 2027 General Election to uphold mutual respect.

Speaking at his Wamunyoro residence on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, Gachagua maintained that he deserved recognition and respect from his fellow opposition figures, citing his contribution to the political rise of several leaders, including President William Ruto.

He argued that he had played a crucial role in securing Ruto’s presidency and was equally prepared to help shape the next political outcome, but insisted that his efforts should not be taken for granted.Na mimi mtu asiniongeleshe kama mtoto yake. I delivered the presidency of William Ruto; we will deliver this, but people should have some respect,” Gachagua stated

Nyamita further claimed that Gachagua had openly expressed dissatisfaction with the commitment and performance of certain opposition leaders, accusing them of lacking energy, focus and a clear political strategy.According to the Uriri legislator, Gachagua's criticism appeared to echo President William Ruto's earlier remarks that the opposition lacked direction and had failed to develop a meaningful agenda, instead spending much of its time holding meetings and visiting political leaders at their homes.

Nyamita contrasted the opposition's approach with Ruto's continued political engagements across the country, arguing that the President was displaying greater enthusiasm and organisational determination.

“These guys are lazy. They are useless. They are not worth it,” Nyamita said, referring to the remarks he attributed to GachaguaThe MP dismissed claims that the emerging disagreements within the opposition were simply a case of internal rivalry, arguing that the leaders had never developed a strong political bond to begin with.

He warned that the growing differences could eventually result in a major political split as opposition figures struggle to reach an agreement on leadership, political strategy and their shared ambitions ahead of the 2027 elections“There is nothing like sibling rivalry because they are not siblings to begin with. These guys are not siblings,” he stated.

Nyamita also challenged opposition politicians to stop focusing exclusively on attacking the Kenya Kwanza administration and instead develop practical policy proposals that could offer Kenyans a credible alternative.Drawing lessons from American politics, he argued that political parties strengthen their appeal by presenting alternative solutions to government policies rather than merely criticising those in power.

He pointed to the United States Democratic Party, noting that it had built its political arguments around proposing different approaches to policies championed by President Donald Trump and his Republican Party.“The Democrats and the Republicans… The Democrats have won purely on agenda. They have given an alternative to every single thing, every single policy that they disagree with Trump,” he said.
