Oginga made the remarks at his Nairobi home while hosting a delegation of MPs and Senators who went to see him following his recently illness. The group was led by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula and Senate Speaker Amason Kingi.

Oginga also urged political leaders to embrace dialogue, tolerance and consensus-building to promote national unity. He thanked the parliamentary leadership for the visit and their encouragement. Wetang'ula said he hoped Oginga would make a full recovery and return to his legislative duties.

Oginga was discharged from Nairobi Hospital in late October after a two-week admission . Since returning home, several political leaders and members of his family have visited him.

When reports emerged of a fresh hospital admission earlier, he asked whether those spreading them had verified the information with him, and said illness is part of normal life.
