AZIMIO CHANGES TUNE BARELY A DAY AFTER CALLING OFF DEMOS.

Yesterday, Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition surprised Kenyans after they suspended their mass protest that was scheduled to take place today.

The alliance revealed that after a series of consultation amongst themselves and the show of goodwill from the Kenya Kwanza side, they decided to give dialogue a chance.

Today the Azimio Coalition council met in Nairobi where they resolved to have the matter in the bipartisan an ultimatum of 30 days. The council led by Azimio boss Raila Odinga and Wiper chief Kalonzo Musyoka said their talks with Kenya Kwanza faction will be centred only four key issues they have been raising during protest.

They however cautioned their Kenya Kwanza counterpart against any foreplay warning that they will not hesitate to take alternative action. The earlier talks were suspended after the Azimio side cited lack of seriousness from their counterpart from the Kenya Kwanza after they appointed Adan Keynan to their team who is a member of the Jubilee party.

The Coalition also surprised Kenyans after they announced that they will continue engaging their supporters through town hall meetings even as talks continue.

“The talks cannot be driven entirely and exclusively through a parliamentary process. There must be an avenue to be inclusive and allow participation of players from outside parliament,” Azimio council said in a statement read by DAP-K leader Eugine Wamalwa.

The Coalition also maintained that they are not seeking a power- sharing deal with the government, demanding the unconditional release of persons arrested during anti-government protests.

On the allegations of assassination attempts by the state on Azimio leaders, Roots Party Leader Prof George Wajackoyah allayed fears that the state has engaged assassins to eliminate Azimio leaders, claiming that the execution plans have been hatched.
