LIST OF DIPLOMA COURSES WITH HIGH JOB DEMAND.

The Ministry of Education, through the State Department for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) has revealed diploma courses which have high job demand.

This has been revealed by the Principal Secretary for the State Department of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Hon Esther Muoria.

According to the PS, most students after their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education examinations (KCSE) rush to undertake degree courses not knowing that the country’s future depended squarely on TVET graduates.

Revealing the diploma courses that are in high demand in the country, the PS stated that courses in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) were highly needed in the job market in Kenya.

STEM courses are classified into 6 clusters; Engineering and Technology, Environmental Sciences, Applied Sciences, Health Sciences, Food Science and Computing and Information Technology.

This has seen the Government of Kenya put a lot of emphasis and resources towards the support of STEM courses in all TVET institutions.

This has seen the Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Education Hon Ezekiel Machogu write to principals of national polytechnics, TVET institutions, and teacher training colleges to promote STEM courses. In a circular dated December 23, 2022, he explained the government’s plan to phase out business courses within three years.
