There are 12 Kenya police job groups, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, P, R, and S. Police constables with only O-level certificates (or an equivalent KCSE mean grade) are in job group “F”, while degree holders are in job group “J.”

However, some cops holding high positions are not degree graduates because they joined the system years before the government enacted new policies.
