WHY MP SALASYA IS EARNING LESS THAN KENYAN MCAs

Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has been making controversial waves in Kenya since he was elected to a legislator’s position in 2022.

He is now back in the headlines, with his antics, after revealing how his salary closes near to Sh. 1.1 million has been reduced to Sh. 97,000.

The MP has raised a few eyebrows with his payslip, particularly the deductions section that has captured the attention of many Kenyans on Twitter.

“Let me demonstrate to Gachagua, Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot, and my great friend Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen that all Kenyans have shares in this country,” he wrote on a tweet.

How MP Peter Salasya gets Sh. 97,000 net from Sh. 1.1 million salary

“I contribute Sh. 300,000 plus to revenue and the President is the only watchman for our contributions and it’s our right to ask for development,” Salasya divulged.

Kenyans eagerly delved into the inner workings of the politician’s finances.

Salasya paid for his car loan, amounting to Sh. 89,150 and made a Sh. 53,676 contribution to the staff pension fund

All other deductions were alright, but what caught the eye for most was the Sh. 563,000 mortgage he was financing. Many netizens were wondering why he would commit to such an amount.

Tweeps flooded his comment section in dramatic flair to hilariously comment and question the MPs mortgage bill.

CzonKim wrote: Mtu akilipa Mortgage ya 563k how much is the home worth?

Cheruiyotkb: 50% of the salary to mortgage. Waheshimiwa live large. CDF itukuzwe!

Gmmasiga wrote: Mhesh, nani hawa walikuingiza box ya mortgage an car loan? Hao ndio wanachukua advantage kwako.

Uhurunomics: Mortgage ya 563K! Kwani ulinunua Nyayo Stadium?

InsecurityKE: Na hio balance ya 97k ndio mnakula na Toto?? You are completely finished

Many have praised him for his transparency, as it’s rare for a lawmaker to make their salary statements public.
