The Public Service Commission (PSC) on Tuesday, February 7 advertised over 200 vacancies in the civil service, encouraging Kenyans to apply.

The available roles are spread across various state departments. There are 125 vacancies for Immigration Officers in the State Department for Citizen Services.

In the State Department for Internal Security and National Administration, there are 20 Chemist vacancies, as well as 18 Laboratory Technologist positions and 4 Asset Management Officer vacancies.

There are 8 vacancies for wildlife officers in the State Department for Tourism and Wildlife.

In the State Department for Lands and Physical Planning, there are 40 vacancies for Land Valuers and 10 for Geo Management Information Officers.

Under the State Department for Transport, there is a single open role for an engineer and another for a Shipping and Maritime Transport Officer, as well as two open positions for Air Transport Officers and two more for Road and Rail Transport Officer.

In a separate advertisement, the PSC also announced a vacancy for Government Spokesperson on February 27. The successful applicant will be key to articulating and communicating decisions and policies of the President William Ruto-led administration.

The spokesperson will receive a basic salary ranging between Ksh292,765 and Ksh576,120 per month as well as several allowances such as a Ksh100,000 house allowance, Ksh100,000 entertainment allowance, Ksh100,000 domestic servants allowance and Ksh100,000 extraneous allowance.

Requirements include being a citizen of Kenya, having practised for at least 15 years as a media or communications practitioner, three of which should be in the grade of Director, CSG 5/Job Group ‘S’ and above or in comparable and relevant position in the wider public service or private sector.

The candidate must also have a Bachelors degree in any of the following fields; Public Relations, Communication, Journalism, Communication, Media Studies, Social Sciences or equivalent qualifications from a university recognized in Kenya.

Other requirements include possessing excellent written and verbal communication skills, understanding the government’s policies and agenda, and meeting constitutional requirements on integrity.
