REST IN PEACE. RAILA’S FAMILY IS MOURNING

The family of former prime minister is today mourning. The bodyguard of Ida Odinga has been shot dead at his Riat home in Kisumu West sub-County.

The security personnel was shot dead by unknown assailant on Friday, October 14 at around 5 am.

Confirming the incident, Nyanza Regional Police Commander Karanja Muiruri and Ida’s head of security team David Masaga say the officer was in the company of a woman believed to be his lover.

The officer’s name is yet to be disclosed until her family is notified.

The assailant who is allegedly said to be one of the club managers in the city is said to have fled from the scene after the incident.

The body of the security guard has been removed to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital morgue.

Meanwhile, detectives in Kisumu have launched a manhunt operation for the suspect who also shot the woman in her arm.

Ida is the wife of Raila Odinga, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party leader and Kenya’s long-term leader of opposition.
