ANOTHER WIN FOR MITHIKA LINTURI

A woman who had accused Agriculture Cabinet Secretary nominee Mithika Linturi of attempted rape in Nanyuki has withdrawn the matter, according to court papers seen by Citizen Digital.

The parties informed the court that an out-of-court settlement had been reached, and the matter was withdrawn before Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi and under Section 40 of the Sexual Offenses Act.

Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi approved the withdrawal after the DPP affirmed that they were aware of the specifics of the two parties’ agreement.

The complainant was also present in court to attest to her willingness to drop the case, and she made it clear that she wouldn’t bring it up again in the future.

The court also learned that the complainant voluntarily agreed to drop the case without being forced to do so.

As a result, the court ordered that the former senator be given access to the Ksh.200,000 he had posted as bail as well as some Ksh.200,000 that the police had held as evidence.
