AZIMIO MPs WALKS OUT OF MEETING CHAIRED BY RAILA

Azimio will on Friday, September 16, hold a meeting in Machakos to decide on candidates for its parliamentary leadership positions. Raila Odinga’s ODM party is set to produce National Assembly majority leader, a local daily has reported.

Former Minority Whip Junet Mohamed, former Minority Leader John Mbadi and Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi have reportedly been fronted for the majority leadership slot. However, reliable sources have told The Standard that there is opposition to Junet Mohammed’s candidacy for any leadership position at the National Assembly. It is reported that Junet enjoys Raila Odinga’s favour, but Azimio Members of Parliament have allegedly protested against Suna East MP being handed the majority leader position.

It is also revealed that Azimio leader Raila Odinga is also expected to return the country from abroad. Raila is said to have reached out to ODM officials in a bid to extinguish the flames engulfing the Suna East Member of Parliament as some of the lawmakers have reportedly vowed to walk out of the meeting scheduled tomorrow if Junet Mohammed is handed any parliamentary seat.
