TOUGH GUIDELINES KENYANS WHO WANTS TO ATTEND INAUGURATION MUST FOLLOW

Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho on Saturday, September 10, issued a statement on preparations ahead of president-elect Wiliam Ruto’s ceremony scheduled for Tuesday, September 13.

Kibicho, who is a member of the Assumption of the Office of President Committee stated that 20 heads of state were expected to grace the event at the Kasarani International Stadium.

An additional 2,500 VIPs were also expected to attend the event on Tuesday.

“We will have limited invitations of 2,500 VIPs on the dais. We have confirmations from presidents and heads of states across Africa totalling 20 in number.

“We will have all the protocols associated with visiting heads of state ready by foreign affairs and KDF and all those people who are concerned with the arrival of dignitaries,” Kibicho stated.

Members of the public are expected to have settled in the stadium by 7.00 am while VIPs are expected in the venue by 9.00 am. The program will commence at 10.30 am.

According to Kibicho, the government has also collaborated with traffic officials in preparing an operational order to avert traffic gridlock.

” Arrangements for common pooling have been made to reduce the number of vehicles around the stadium.

Vehicles chauffeuring the select VIPs will bear special stickers to enable traffic officers to identify them at the venue. The assumption committee has also adopted stringent security measures to manage the crowds.

For those who must use their private vehicles to bring themselves here, we have various categories of stickers and people will be directed by traffic accordingly depending on the stickers they will be using,” he stated.

Further, the committee made arrangements to accommodate more people outside the stadium who will follow the proceedings on screens. Small traders will also be allowed to sell their wares in designated areas to avoid irregular hawking around the stadium’s vicinities.

“There is some space that we have that will accommodate overflow to the extent of 20,000. We will mount screens so that people who are in that space can also be able to follow the proceedings,” he added.
