IEBC REVEALS THAT SAKAJA HAS NOT WON THE ELECTION.

As results continue to trickle in, Nairobi county provisional results indicate that the top two Nairobi gubernatorial candidates, Polycarp Igathe and Johnson Sakaja, are locked in a close race.

Ardent followers of the duo have been splashing unverified reports about the state of the race on social media with each side claiming victory.

However, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has distanced itself from the results that have been shared on social media claiming that it is yet to announce the official results.

According to Nairobi County Returning Officer Albert Gogo, the county tallying center has only received three constituency results so far.

The three constituencies are Langata, Kasarani, and Makadara.

“The county returning officer and the team will verify the results as submitted in form A with the collection results form B, and then once we have verified those results then we shall start preparing the respective form C which is the result declaration form,” Gogo said.

“The teams here are verifying results that came in from each form A from each polling station in respective constituencies against form B that was collated at constituency tallying center.

Once verified then we shall prepare form C which is the result declaration form and we shall do this for each returning officer from the constituency until we have processed all the 17 constituency returning officers and by that time, our result declaration form C will be complete with 3, 643 polling stations.

It is at that level we will be able to determine who the winner is for each of the three county elections,” he added.
